“Culture is something you create every day.” —Hesse

In keeping with Calliope’s mission to bring to light little-known repertoire and to support local musicians and young composers, an annual Call for Scores has been established by Music Director Patrick Valentino starting in the 2019-2020 season. Eligible composers are invited to submit original work to be considered for performance by Calliope.

The Annual Call for Scores is open for submissions from 1 April through 31 May 2020. Click here for the regulations and submission form with complete details. Please note this link will be live only during the period that the Call is open, so check back on April 1 for all the information.

1st Annual Call for Scores — the Results are in!!

We are very pleased to congratulate the winner of our 1st Annual Call for Scores Bobby Ge for his submission "I Cannot Dream Your Dreams", for choir and orchestra. Calliope will give the world premiere to this work on our Winter concert, tentatively scheduled for February-March 2021.

We would also like to announce two Honorable Mentions, "Requiem and Kyrie" for chorus and strings by Jeremy Beck, and "Battle-Pieces" for chorus and strings by Jonathan Santore.

Thanks to all of the 54 composers who participated for "answering the call"! We look forward to offering our 2nd Call for Scores in Spring 2021!
