Upcoming Events & Concerts
We thank Patrick Valentino, our outgoing music director, for his efforts over the past two years and wish him well in his future endeavors! Calliope is currently reviewing candidates for our new music director. Announcements will be made soon once Calliope's music director search committee and board of directors have completed their processes.
First Annual Call for Scores: the results are in!
We are very pleased to congratulate the winner of our first call for scores, Bobby Ge, for his submission "I Cannot Dream Your Dreams", for choir and orchestra. Calliope will give the world premiere to this work in the future upon resumption of our concert seasons.
We also recognize two honorable mentions: "Requiem and Kyrie" for chorus and strings by Jeremy Beck, and "Battle-Pieces" for chorus and strings by Jonathan Santore.
Thank you to the 54 composers who submitted scores for consideration! We look forward to continuing this program in the future.
When last we met...
We hope you enjoyed our February 2020 concert, Dreams and Visions, a benefit concert for Project Pacer.
Our 2020 Tapas chamber concert, originally scheduled for April 25, 2020 has been reformatted and will be made available soon on YouTube - stay tuned for future programming!
Calliope is a unique ensemble built upon an innovative model of choral and instrumental collaboration. Serving the Boston area and beyond, Calliope performs rarely heard repertoire alongside more well-known works, enhancing the understanding and importance of both. Beyond presenting concerts, Calliope is dedicated to building bridges in our community with its Beneficiary Partnership Program, supports young musicians through our Mentorship Program, and is active in the creation of new music in its annual Call for Scores.
“I’m happy to be part of a group with such a big heart”
